 In and Around the Valley

5. Classic 50/50 Burger (with cheese) - Tom’s #7

5571 Cahuenga Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601
Tom’s #7 in North Hollywood is a great place for any burger freak on a time crunch.  The close proximity and rapid preparation make the already delicious burgers so much better.  Nothing signifies this more than the Classic 50/50 Burger.  The 50/50 represents the patty: 50% ground beef, 50% ground bacon.  If that, along with traditional burger ingredients, doesn’t get you excited, keep reading because there are four other burgers on this list.

4. Animal Style Burger - In-N-Out

Burbank Town Center, 761 First St, Burbank, CA 91502
I know, In-N- Out is a burger chain.  Big whoop, wanna fight about it?  Although, as far as fast food chains go, In-N-Out is by far the most “Valley.”  And for those of you who know about the chain’s secret menu, I’m sure you know of the Animal Style Burger. For those who don’t, it’s a classic double double with a twist: caramelized onions, extra pickle chips, and a patty with mustard fried into it. Even if you can get this at a location elsewhere, it would be a disservice to California’s own burger chain to leave it off this list.

3. The Royale - The Oinkster

2005 Colorado Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041
The owners of The Oinkster in Eagle Rock clearly love burgers, as they host the annual Burger Week every year. But of their regular lineup of burgers, The Royale stands out the most. With a 1/3 pound Angus patty, bacon, chili, pastrami, and choice of several different cheeses, The Royale will make any burger lover’s mouth water.

2. Grizzly Brisket Burger - The Bear Pit

10825 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345
When you walk into The Bear Pit in Mission Hills, you’ll notice a lot of, well, bears. This wooden bear infested restaurant is well known for their BBQ, so it should be no surprise that their burgers are just as good. The Grizzly Brisket Burger consists of a 1/2 pound brisket filled burger with jack cheese, onion rings, and a spicy sauce. And just like all of their BBQ, the burger is slowly smoked with wood to really bring out the taste.

1. Behemoth - Grill ‘Em All

19 E Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801
Grill ‘Em All is a very unique burger joint. Everything in the restaurant is metal. I don’t mean it’s made of steel, I mean that the walls are covered in band posters, the TV plays Iron Maiden concerts, and the burgers are all named after metal bands. The Behemoth is no different. Fittingly named after Polish black metal band Behemoth, as you’ll be making similar groans and screams in the bathroom a few hours after eating it. At first, this seems like a classic burger: 1/2 pound patty, bbq sauce, bacon, cheddar, grilled onions, and pickle.  But keep in mind that the buns are GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES! Greasier than a teenage boy and cheesier than the poems he writes his crush, you’ll fall in love with this massive burger.
