Recently, there has been a surge of celebrities claiming that skipping breakfast immensely aided them in their dietary goals immensely. To that I say, I’d rather cut off my right arm than give up a fresh, pillowy pancake first thing in the morning. There’s nothing that quite compares to the languid morning hours where one can lean back and bask in soft sunlight as tendrils of steam rise up from a fresh pot of tea. Brunch is not something to just lop off for the sake of supposedly “reducing cravings.” Brunch, when done right, is the first firm bound into the rest of your day, and Another Broken Egg Café is the perfect place to bask in the glory of all that is breakfast food.

From its humble beginnings inside a cozy century-old cottage in Old Mandeville, Louisiana, to the dozens of franchise locations serving instagram-worthy plates now, Another Broken Egg Café has been providing all the goodness of breakfast with an artisan flare for 22 years. In 2013, the café was named one of the “Top 500 Franchise Businesses in America” by Entrepreneur Magazine. Its impressive menu size and variety, the charm of the custom ceramic mugs, and the relaxed atmosphere all culminate into the perfect brunch spot. That is, if you can make it before the doors promptly close at 2:00PM. The magic of breakfast, unfortunately, cannot last all day.

Breakfast, brunch and lunch — that is the specialty of Another Broken Egg Café. The three of us do not usually go out for breakfast at a restaurant; however, we were quite pleased that we woke up early on Sunday to spend a great morning at this adorable café.

The space was very inviting with a cozy atmosphere, which felt familiar as if it was not our first time visiting. We chose to sit outdoors as the weather was nice and refreshing. Looking through many different choices on the menu, it made us want to try everything, but we eventually decided on three classic dishes that we thought could not go wrong: Eggs Benedict, mixed berry pancakes, and a Belgian waffle.

Mixed Berry Pancakes
The Eggs Benedict was served with savory, cooked ham and perfectly poached eggs on top of a crispy, toasted English muffin, along with a side of seasoned potatoes. Our pancakes came with fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries topped with a generous amount of whipped cream. They were not too sweet or too heavy, instead they were surprisingly light and fluffy. Lastly, the Belgian waffle was served with a rich and creamy chocolate syrup, also topped with whipped cream. The exterior had a crispy texture balanced out by a soft interior that was easy to bite into. Overall, our choices tasted amazing and we were thoroughly satisfied as we enjoyed the precious morning in this local brunch spot, making it a great way to start off our day.

Just for your information, Another Broken Egg Café is a popular local brunch spot and therefore on weekends they are quite busy during brunch time, as was seen through our visit Sunday morning. One can expect long lines as there were customers lining up as early as 9:00AM am. The café is solely dedicated to serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and so their hours of operations are only from 7:00AM to 2:00PM.
If you are looking for a nice brunch spot to spend a great morning with your family or friends, Another Broken Egg Café is a great option for you. They offer all the classic American brunch options such as omelettes, sandwiches, French toasts, mimosas, and more! So if you want a great start to your morning, stop by Another Broken Egg Café and enjoy the comforting atmosphere and delicious food.

Final Review

Atmosphere 10/10:
This cafe definitely has a perfect atmosphere for brunch. The outside part of the cafe is a bit more modern and fancier because of the table and chairs. The inside looks more like an old-style cafe. The colors aren’t too bright, and are mostly light brown. From couples to families, different kinds of people go there and, overall, it has a friendly environment.

Price $$: The pricing of the menu is average. It is most certainly not over-priced, but it is not cheap either. The average price of a meal is about $15.00. The taste of the food is worth the price!

Service Quality: This is the only major area that I would critique during our experience. Although, there were a lot of staff members on duty, after being seated and having plenty of time to look over the menu, not only did we have to wait awhile to get our orders taken, but we had to go out of our way to ask someone to take our order.  Furthermore, even after ordering the waiting staff did not really check up on our table.

Parking: There is no specific parking for the cafe. We had to park on the street. There weren’t many parking spots left, we were lucky to find them.
